Bulgaria

Establishing diplomatic relations

Diplomatic relations between the two states were established on 5th of February 1992. Bulgaria was among the first states to open a diplomatic mission in Chisinau on December 19 1992. The Moldovan Embassy opened in Sofia in 1994 on February 10.

Legal framework

Republic of Moldova and Republic of Bulgaria have signed 56 agreements.

Trade and economic relations

The foreign trade volume (without taking into account the commercial activity of economic agents in the eastern regions) of the Republic of Moldova with the Republic of Bulgaria in 2012 reached the amount of 111.9 mln. U.S. Dollars, which represents an increase of 11.3%.

Judging by the volume of trade volume registered during this period, the Republic of Bulgaria is ranked 14th among the partners with which Moldova holds commercial relations. The share of trade with this country is 1.52% of the total volume of foreign trade of the Republic of Moldova.

The trade balance in 2012 is negative and amounted to - 44.3 mln. U.S. Dollars. According to the size of the negative trade balance, the Republic of Bulgaria is ranked 15th among the partner countries of the Republic of Moldova.

The export of goods made in the mentioned period reached the amount of 33,8 mln. U.S. Dollars. Republic of Bulgaria ranks 11th among countries where the Republic of Moldova is ​​exporting, with a share of 1.57% of the total amount of exports from the Republic of Moldova.

The import of goods made in that period to the Republic of Moldova from the Republic of Bulgaria was 78.1 mln. U.S. Dollars. The Republic of Bulgaria is ranked 14th among the top countries from which the Republic of Moldova makes ​​imports, with a share of 1.50% of the total amount of imports of the Republic of Moldova.
